Thoughts on Turning the BIG 3-0

Yes that's right folks, on Thursday I officially turned a decade older-I'm no longer in my 20's and have joined the ranks of the 30's! All in all, it was a fantastic birthday and not nearly as traumatizing as I'd imagined! I think the lack of trauma came because I'm in such a wonderful place in my life. I've got a job which I love, the most wonderful, caring and darling husband in the whole world, I'm happily pregnant and have even happier drugs that keep me from prego puking! It just can't get any better so who cares if I've left my 20's behind because I've just got so much ahead of me to look forward to!
Thursday was a good day. At work they got me the yummiest cake ever-it was huge and HEAVY! That afternoon I got to go to my second prenatal check up at my doctor's office. I got to see my little polka dot's heartbeat again and my doctor said everything looks fantastic-other than I've porked out a bit! Then after work I got home and found a huge bouquet of the most beautiful red roses! See...

And even better yet-the house was spotless! My dear sweet husband had spent the afternoon scrubbing and cleaning the whole house!
My mother-in-law, being the smart woman that she is, mailed my birthday present to my work since I spend more time there than anything. It arrived on Friday and being the not so patient person I am, I couldn't wait to open it! It came in a big mailing box. Once opened, among the random mail and 2 bottles of Matt's favorite BBQ sauce that you can only get in Colorado, were 3 adorably wrapped presents. The first one had the cutest baby booties ever!

Then the second box started the tears a little bit-it was a sweet Willow Tree figure of a mother and baby.

And then the last box really got the water works going! After much struggling due to a case of insane pregnancy brain I finally managed to get the box open-pulled it apart into several pieces before I realized it had a lid that just pulled off! At the top of the box was a cute stuffed animal giraffe which is so soft!

Beneath the giraffe was the sweetest most thoughtful thing I've ever received and it's something I will cherish for the rest of my life! It was the first stuffed animal that my wonderful mother-in-law bought for Matt when he was first born! It's so cute and still in such good condition!

So needless to say I bawled my eyes out at work!

Then on Saturday Matt wanted to go to the Apple store to get some information about downloading music onto his iPod without losing his current play list. So we went to the mall and shopped around for a little while. Matt's Aunt Shelley got me a gift certificate to my favorite store-Macy's-for my birthday so I went and got a pair of comfy black maternity pants for work. Then we went home where I got the holy bajiminies scared out of me! My wonderful husband planned a surprise party for me and our home was filled with friends and family! We had a BBQ, I opened presents, we played games with Sandra and Levi and watched "Yes Man" super funny! Such a great day!
Thanks to all my friends and family who made my 30th birthday great!

Latest Random Pregnant Dreams

Alright so here's the latest installment of random prego dreams.

Even though Matt and I have already chosen Boy and Girl names I still keep dreaming about baby names. The latest one was that Matt decided if it's a girl it should be named Gwynn. Not Gwen, no, Gwynn-doesn't that sound totally pretentious and snotty?

I had a dream about having twins the night before last! When Matt and I went in for the first ultrasound a few weeks ago and we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, the ultrasound tech told me I've got a retroverted uterus. This means that instead of tilting forward it tilts backward-and apparently mine tilts way far backwards. So at that first ultrasound she did a lot of searching to make sure there wasn't a second baby hiding somewhere. Well I had a routine monthly check up yesterday and I dreamt that when I went in for my check up, they found 2 heartbeats! In my dream they said that the second twin must have been hiding in the backward part of my uterus and that we were now expecting 2 babies! Luckily when I went in for my appointment the ultrasound only showed one baby-I asked the doctor to be sure because I was still a bit freaked out by the dream!

Now the dreams get really random! My coworker Jentry is pregnant too. She's exactly one month to the day ahead of me. So in my dream she and I were Military Special Ops and by this time we were full on big bellied pregnant. We were chasing after a perp who was shooting at us. Next thing we knew we were in an office full of cubicles and people. For some reason the shooter wasn't interested in harming the office workers so the people felt safe trying to help us. Jentry went on one side of the cubicles and hid under a desk and I went on the other side and hid under another desk. The cubicles had a random gap in the middle of them and there was a girl standing in the gap. The girl's name was Desirae Williams-she was someone I went to Middle School with and she was always horribly mean to me-totally random that she was in my dream! So she discovers my hiding spot and makes the shooter aware of where I am-because apparently she's still a meanie! So the shooter comes after me and Jentry jumps out of no where and takes him down! Yeah that's all-that's when I woke up!

This last one was from last night. I dreamt about being at work. I was behind the teller line and I had a member at my window. She had a lot of cash that she was trying to count and it was all spread out on the counter. Jentry was next to me and was helping another member(Yeah, I dream about Jentry a lot-I think it's because we spend 8 hours together every day!). Another member walks into the credit union and walks up to my window and stands about an inch behind the member that I'm helping! The woman that I'm helping gives me this strange uncomfortable look so I ask her if they came to the credit union together. She tells me she has no idea who the woman breathing down her neck is. So I address the personal space invader and explain to her that I'm helping this other member right now and I'll help her out when I'm done but in the mean time I'd appreciate it if she'd step back to the line to wait. The woman looks at me and says "No, I'm not moving." I'm kind of surprised by this but I continue to explain that it's my job to protect all of our members' personal information and the best way to do that is if the woman will please step back to the line. Again she refuses. I tell her that she wouldn't like her account number, account balance and social security number made known to other members so it's important that she gives the member I'm helping that same courtesy. And again the lady refuses stating that she doesn't care who knows about her account information. Now Jentry's ready to help another member but the woman refuses to go over to her window. So now I'm getting really irritated and I tell the woman that if she's not willing to back up to the line or go to Jentry for help then I'm going to have to ask her to leave the credit union because she's violating privacy laws. The woman tells me that I can't make her leave. So I pick up the phone and tell her there is a police station across the street and the cops can be here in a matter of seconds. The woman asks what the cops would arrest her for and I tell her disorderly conduct in a financial institution. At this point she gets upset, and storms out of the credit union. I tell our banker Fernando to go out and discretely take note of her vehicle information just in case we need it. And then I woke up!

RANDOM!

Wacky Pregnancy Dreams

So they say when you're pregnant you get really vivid wacked out dreams-and they weren't joking! Here are just little snippets of a few of my latest dreams...
One night I dreamt that we found out that we were having twin girls and we couldn't think of a second girls name so we decided to call them both Amelia.
That same night I also dreamt that we found out that we were having a boy and Matt insisted that we name the boy Greg-this name is particularly unappealing to me since my ex's name is Greg.
A few days ago I dreamt that we went to Cirque Du Soleil. Amidst all the costumes and makeup and movement, I became very insistent that one of the performers was my mother. Now, I haven't seen my mother since I was 7 and haven't really had much desire to reconnect with her. She'd be nearly 60 and it's doubtful that she'd be limber enough to be a Cirque Du Soleil performer. None the less, I just happened to have a photo of my mother with me and we tried to go back stage to find her. I showed her picture to the bouncer backstage and he let me in. I wandered around all of these random cubicle things trying to find her. None the less I was unsuccessful.
I also had a random dream that after the baby was born, to get my pre-baby body back I became a triathlete. Now this dream cracked me up. First off, I'll be the first one to admit that my pre-baby body isn't anything spectacular. So, why, I ask, did I need to become a triathlete to regain this body? Also, I've never ever been particularly athletic and the though of running, biking and swimming makes me want to shoot myself!
I know I had another random one last night but I can't for the life of me remember what that one was about. I'm sure there will be more dreams so I'll keep you posted on them!

Our Little Polka Dot's First Photo Shoot

We got to officially see our little polka dot today! It was so amazing! The ultrasound tech said it was measuring at 7 weeks 3 days which is 2 days behind what it should be but when we're talking about such tiny measurements, there's a lot of space for error. The polka dot is only about 1/2 inch long right now.

We also got to see and hear the heartbeat! That was the most incredible thing ever! It was so amazing to see this tiny flicker and hear the woh woh woh woh sound of the heart beating at 143 beats per minute! This tiny little polka dot didn't even exist 7 weeks ago and now it's got it's own beating heart-I'm getting teary just thinking about the miracle of life!

Matt cracked me up-he said the heartbeat is a good strong German heartbeat! LOL!

Swine Flu Venting!

Some people are SOOO stupid!!! So I've got this co-worker who is always sick! He is sick more than any person I've ever seen in my entire life! I have no clue how he still has a job when he is never at work! One of my other co-workers is pregnant also-she's just one month ahead of me. So needless to say, our branch is on Swine Flu and germs "High Alert" to protect our tiny little growing babies. Well the guy that is always sick showed up today wearing a surgical mask because he and his whole family are sick. That in and of its self is bad enough. Where the real problem lies is in the fact that this guy's father just got back from LIVING in MEXICO!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me? I can't believe that he had the nerve or stupidity to show up at work not knowing what he has or not caring about who he could infect! Stupid BEAST! GRRRRR! So help me, if I get sick, there might just be blood on my hands because I'm so going after him!
