I went in for my first OB doctor's appointment today. My doctor is absolutely wonderful and I'm so glad I get to have her guide me through this crazy pregnancy journey! She was so excited that I'm pregnant that she insisted that I have an ultrasound today even though we both knew it was way to early to see much of anything. So as we suspected, the ultrasound didn't show much except for a dark polka dot which will be the baby's home for the next 8 months. The baby was somewhere in that polka dot but too small to see. My next ultrasound is scheduled for May 11. We should be able to see the baby by then and hear the heartbeat because I'll be more than 7 weeks along by then. Hooray! I'm so excited about my little polka dot!

A "Wicked" Good Time!

Today was a great day! I went with my friend Sara to go see Wicked. It was absolutely fantastic-I need to go out and get the soundtrack. The story is so fun and Glinda and Elphaba's voices were incredible! We had really great seats and the lady that was sitting in front of me was short! Perfect. See our ticket...

The set was so cool! There was a huge dragon over the stage-it's eyes lit up and it flapped it's wings. I wasn't able to really get a great shot of the set because photos were "strictly prohibited" and the ushers hunted down any camera flash they saw! But I tried-this is the best shot I got...
I'm so grateful to my wonderful friend Sara for inviting me! This is she and I outside the theater...

Here's to the Three Happiest Years of My Life!
To day is mine and Matt's 3 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's already been 3 years. In that time we've been through 3 moves, I've had 3 different jobs and Matt has had 4 different jobs, we've had ups and downs-mostly ups and now we're going to have a baby! These have been the happiest years of my life and I'm looking forward to an eternity filled with more happy years.
To my dear sweet husband-I love you with all my heart and am so greatful that you chose me to travel through the journey of life with you. Your love makes any hardship I've been through be washed away. I love you dearly!

Satan Invented Morning Sickness!

I've come to the decision that Satan invented morning sickness to deter us from multiplying and replenishing the earth! I'm just starting my second month of pregnancy and am already experiencing morning sickness. This morning was a doozie! I woke up at 3:30AM to a growling stomach. I knew it was the kind of growl that meant if I didn't eat anything, I'd feel really sick soon. So I got up, went down to the kitchen to try to decide what to eat. Really, what sounds good to eat at 3:30 in the morning-NOTHING! So I had some toast with grape jelly. (On a side note, grape jelly is a random craving that I've been having. I HATE grape flavored things! In fact, I usually avoid purple candies for fear that they're grape flavored. But lately I can't get enough grape jelly!) So after eating the toast, my belly was still grumbling so I made some oatmeal. Ate that but still felt hungry! I couldn't find anything else in the kitchen that sounded good except for Ramen Noodle so I ate a bowl of that as well. Finally I felt full and no longer had to hear my complaining stomach and I went back to bed. When I woke up a few hours later, I felt fine for a little while until I brushed my teeth. Why is it that when you're already feeling nauseous your gag reflex is heightened? Yeah, it all went down hill from there.

I recently bought these things called Preggie Pops in anticipation of having morning sickness. They're supposed to be an all natural treatment for morning sickness. I tried them out for the first time today. I'll admit, they're quite tasty and they do ease the nausea as long as you've got the candy in your mouth. Problem is it dissolves and then you want more. Other problem is, for 3 of those little bad boys there is 70 calories and loads of sugar-not so good! Also, along the same lines of the heightened gag reflex, if the stupid candy works it's way too far into the back of your mouth, it makes you gag and you feel sick all over again. So the verdict on the Preggie Pops-Not worth it. Oh well, I tried!
Luckily I'm now feeling much better-after having eaten some fruit and TONS of crackers. So I should be able to function for the rest of the day. Then I get to do it all over again tomorrow! YIPPEE!

Preggeriffic!
Yes, that's right, Matt and I are going to have a BABY!!!! Yippee! We just found out on Thursday and I just can't wait to tell EVERYONE the news! I'm still really early in my pregnancy-just 4 weeks. I wasn't actually supposed to take a pregnancy test until this Wednesday (on our 3rd wedding anniversary!) but I'm just not a patient person so I've been testing for almost a week! And now I've become completely addicted to seeing pregnancy tests turn positive! See...

I've taken many more but I won't post ALL of them!
I was so excited to tell Matt but when I got the first positive, Matt had already left for the day and of course he not only had work that day but school too! And since that's not the kind of news I wanted to just tell him over the phone, I had to wait ALL day long to tell him. And I'll admit he wasn't the first person I told, I'm a bit of an open book and am not so good with secrets! So after the first positive, I burst into tears and called my Dearest Amy! Then on my way to work, I called my doctor's office. Then when I got to work, well, um, yeah, I told EVERYONE I work with!
So I came up with the greatest way to tell Matt the news. First let me say that white birthday cake with white frosting is just about his favorite thing ever. So this is what I did...

So when Matt got home, I totally played it coy, asked him about his day and just chit chatted for a bit. Then I brought out the cake and set it on his side of the bed. This was his reaction...
Like I said, he'd had a long day and had just taken off his hat so he looks a bit rough but his facial expression is PRICELESS!
Then we had to tell our parents. I came up with idea months ago and have been so looking forward to doing it. What we did is just mailed these to our parents without giving them any warning...

My Dad's reaction was priceless! I was on the phone with him when he opened his mail. The first words out of his mouth were "You've got to be Sh@#$ing me!" He was really excited! It cracked me up!

So now we've come to the end of a long 7 month trying to conceive journey which was filled with months of fertility tests, constant blood work(I feel like a pin cushion!), loads of fun fertility drugs. Now we're at the beginning of an even longer journey called parenthood and we couldn't be more thrilled!

Oh the Woes of a Broncos Fan
So, I love my Denver Broncos and will remain a loyal fan no matter what decisions they make with the team. But I've got to say, this next season is going to BLOW! It totally threw me off when Shanahan got the boot-Yeah, these last SEVERAL seasons haven't been so great but he also hasn't had much of a quarterback to work with until Cutler came along. Griese was a joke and Plummer was even worse. Yes, Cutler wasn't the best quarterback we've ever had but he had so much potential! He could throw a ball almost as well and as gutsy as Elway. And it's true, he could also throw an interception better than anyone. But again, there was potential there. I can't believe that Pat Bowlen or whom ever the powers that be are who made these decisions would destroy any sort of team unity that we had by not only ousting the head coach but getting a new quarterback too. And I must admit, I don't know much-or anything about the new coach and quarterback. I really don't pay too much attention to any other team than my own. Though I'm way more into football than most girls I know, I am still a girl and I just don't have a man's brain to store away all those random facts so I feel I'm doing well to keep up with my own team! So since I don't know much about these new guys, maybe, just maybe they will do great things but I'm not too hopeful.
