Tic Toc Tic Toc!

So I'm going in tonight to start the induction. The hospital doesn't want me to go in there until 9 tonight! UG! That's forever away! I'm doing all I can to make time go faster-I went to work today and worked until 3, wandered around the craft store for an hour or so after that and now I don't know what to do with myself! I just want to get this started already!

Also, I love the pregnancy ticker on the blog...today it says "Your baby is 1 day old" LOL! Not so much!

It's My Due Date!

I'm officially 40 weeks pregnant today! Wow! What a long yet lightning fast journey this has been! I can't believe I'm being induced tomorrow. The little due date ticker badge that is posted here on my blog says I'm 40 weeks pregnant "It's Go Time" LOL!

I've already been super productive today. I folded and packed up most of my maternity clothes and put them in a big tub for storage. I did keep out some of my favorites, knowing that I won't fit back into my prepregnancy clothes right away. I reorganized my closet and went through Hendrix's closet and nursery and made sure everything is organized and ready to go. I've also gone through my check list of things I want to take to the hospital so that'll be all ready to go for tomorrow. Whew, I think I need a nap now!

I'm due tomorrow, being induced on Monday and I'm starting to freak out!

I can't believe it's here! This last month as seemed to be endless but now that the end is just a few days away it seems like it's flown by! I'm due tomorrow! When did that happen? Because of gestational diabetes I'm being induced on Monday.
But now I'm starting to freak out! I'm not at all dilated (as of Wednesday). I'm worried that since we're forcing my body to do something it's obviously not ready for that I'm going to have a really really rough labor. My prediction is after days of laboring with little progress I'm going to end up with a c-section on Wednesday.
What have I gotten myself into? I can't wait to meet Hendrix but I'm so nervous about getting him here!

Victory is Mine!!!

Since I'll only be pregnant for part of the winter I've refused to buy a maternity coat and have been attempting to make due with my normal coats and haven't even tried to close them. Well it snowed a lot today and I didn't want to freeze to death while getting the snow off my car. So after much grunting and struggling, I managed to zip my normal sized snowboarding jacket up over my belly! I was so proud I went around to everyone at work to show them my success! My coat is orange and one of my coworkers told me he felt like he should bounce me because of my perfectly round orange belly! Ha!

My Belly is Smiling at Me!

I have a big gnarly scar that used to be straight across the bottom of my bellybutton from when I had my gallbladder removed. Now with all the stretching and growing that has happened in the last 9 months, that straight line has turned into a big ole smile! LOL-my bellybutton is a happy Cyclops!

Hump Day Humor

ACTUAL AUSTRALIAN COURT DOCKET 12659 ---A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When, on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.
The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old)what he had to say for himself. The man replied, 'Well your Honor, it was like this: when the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are coming' and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, 'Logan's Liniment will reduce the swelling,' and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, 'William's Big Stick Did the Trick,' and I could hardly contain myself. But, Your Honor, when she moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said, 'Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident!'... I just lost it. '' CASE DISMISSED '

Brutal Honesty and a Bit of Bravery

As this chapter as a pregnant woman is coming to an end I thought I'd write down in one LONG post the events and statistics of my pregnancy so far.
And here's where the bravery comes in...Here's my first and ONLY bare belly picture.

I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant, 14 days left until my due date on December 27 and 16 days until my scheduled induction on December 29!

  • When did we find out I was pregnant: April 16, 2009 at 3 weeks 2 days pregnant. I was supposed to wait until the 22nd to test which was mine and Matt's 3 year anniversary but I was too impatient!
  • How long before we got pregnant: After 2 1/2 years of not trying but not really preventing and then 7 long months of infertility testing and treatments and medicines, finally, pregnant!
  • How I told Matt: He LOVES birthday cake and since he'd already left for the day and I didn't want to tell him over the phone, I went out and got a birthday cake that said "Congratulations, you're going to be a father" And surprised him with it when he got home from work.
  • How we told our parents: We got baby frames and put on them "Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!" and just mailed them to them without any warning!
  • Weight gained to date: 7 pounds
  • Waist measurement :41 1/2 inches
  • Any Contractions? 2 hours worth last weekend and an occasional one here and there since then but have had loads of Braxton Hicks for a month or so
Any Stretch Marks? Some small ones on my hips and thighs but so far none on my belly (I've heard the belly ones can come after giving birth so I'll wait for those)
  • Belly Button: Amazingly still an ever so slight innie!
  • Best part of pregnancy: Feeling Hendrix move! He has a party in my belly several times a day and it's so cool!
  • Worst part of pregnancy: PAIN! Constant, excruciating, torturous pain! Back, hip, belly, rib, you name it, it hurts.
  • Complications: Morning sickness which caused me to take Zofran that went from weeks 4-13 and reappeared at week 34 and seems to be here to stay. Heart palpitations at 18 weeks, was monitored and thankfully no further action was needed. Sciatica pain that started at 14 weeks and landed me in physical therapy 3 times a week for a few months. Gestational Diabetes at 28 weeks. Thankfully through it all, Hendrix has been healthy as can be and it's just my body that's been having issues!
  • Nesting: I think it kicked in around 22 weeks and hasn't stopped since. Thus the nursery has been done since 24 weeks, I've already hand made all my birth announcements (just have to add a picture and the birth specifics) all baby clothes, bottles, blankets and accessories are washed and organized, I could go on and on!
  • Favorite Ultrasound: Even though I was way excited for the gender ultrasound, I think my favorite one was the NT scan at 12 weeks. It's when Hendrix started to already show his little personality and was being stubborn. He had his back to us, wouldn't turn around and proceeded to shake his little hiney at us repeatedly as if to say "Neener Neener!"
  • The Name Game: Hendrix actually came to me in a dream, loved the name ever since!
  • Some of the most surprising things about pregnancy: 1) I never realized the pregnant woman waddle wasn't caused by weight or size but by the actual pain of it all. 2) I've become a huge whiner! I always thought I had a high tolerance to pain but when it's for months on end, my patience wears out and I turn into a whine monster! 3) I've always had terrible body image issues and I worried how a big pregnant belly would mess with my head. I surprised myself with this one, I absolutely love rockin' the pregnant belly! 4) I've got a case of labor vanity! My latest obsession is that I don't want our first "family" photo to be of Matt, Hendrix and I with me looking like I've just been run over by a bus! So if at all possible, before I start pushing, I intend to make sure my hair and makeup are in place so that after all that hard work and pushing, I'll hopefully still look semi decent! :)

I love ultrasounds!

One good thing about having a high risk pregnancy is that I get SO many ultrasounds! The ultrasound tech at my doctor's office (Nancy) is awesome and LOVES me! She was the same tech that monitored me as I was going through infertility treatments and she's so excited that I'm pregnant. I've been going in for weekly ultrasounds for over a month now and every time Nancy sends me away with at least 3 or 4 pictures. I probably already have more than 3 dozen little black and white "photos" of Hendrix.

Yesterday I had a growth ultrasound to see how big he is now. He's just barely measuring ahead-38 weeks 1 day and he's estimated to be 7 pounds 6 ounces right now. He's still got a few weeks of growing before he receives his eviction notice so we'll see if he comes out a little chunk!

I also had my weekly OB appointment yesterday. When she checked me, things are starting to progress-I'll leave it at that and won't go into gory details! :) I had some contractions over the weekend so hopefully maybe this weekend will bring more progress. I'm starting to get nervous. As silly as this sounds, I wonder if I'm ready for this. I know I don't have much of a choice but it's pretty daunting to think about the fact that I'm going to be responsible for the health and well being of a completely helpless little man in just a few weeks! I'm going to pack my hospital bag this weekend so we'll be ready to go.

Eyeshadow does not belong between your boobs!

When I got home from work today I really needed to unwind with a bubble bath. While I was in the bath, I noticed a large bruise at the top of my belly right about where my ribs meet. I couldn’t figure out where that came from and I was a bit concerned about it. I tried rubbing at it to see if it hurt and it didn’t. After a few minutes of worrying about it I decided to try some soap and water-sure enough, it came right off! Turns out when I was doing my makeup this morning I somehow managed to drop some eyeshadow right between my boobs and I use Bare Minerals eyeshadow so it doesn’t come off really easily!
LOL Note to self, if it looks like a random bruise, try to wash it off first!

37 weeks! I'm officially full term today!

I can't believe this has gone so fast! I've only got 24 days left at the most, if Hendrix hasn't come by then I'll be induced.
I wish I'd started taking pictures sooner so I had a more accurate before and after but here's my 18 week bump and my 37 weeks bump from today.

So I guess my house is too cold...

This morning I loaded the dish washer and tried to put dish detergent in it but I couldn't because it was FROZEN!!! We don't turn our heat on a lot becuse we kind of like the cold but I guess we got a little carried away since it was cold enough to freeze a full bottle of dish detergent completely solid! LOL
I guess a lot of things are going to have to change when Hendrix comes because we can't have him freezing to death!

Matt cracks me up!

Hendrix moves around a ton! It seems like he's always rolling around, kicking or punching me somewhere. So tonight I'm laying down and Hendrix is doing his usual acrobatics. I say to Matt-I wonder what he's thinking when he's moving around in there. Matt responds with-He's thinking I've gotta get out of here, I've gotta get out of here, I've gotta get out of here! Then one day he'll see a ray of light and he'll say to himself, I'm going that way!

Ha! Matt makes me laugh so hard!

Being Thankful, Strange Dream, Funny Story and Baby Hair

So much to blog about...
I've got to start on this Thanksgiving morning by writing that I have so much to be thankful for and I don't think I express it enough (in fact I think I whine more than anything!) I am so grateful for my dear friends and family, my incredible husband-without whom my life would have so much less meaning, and for the dear sweet, somewhat crazy, little boy that is growing in my belly! I'm thankful that I have my health, or at least will be restored to full health in a month, that we have our beautiful home and that Matt and I both have jobs in this tough economy. When I start to think of all the things I have to be thankful for I become completely overwhelmed and wish every day were Thanksgiving so that I can more fully and more frequently appreciate how good I've got it!

Strange Dream:
I dreamt last night that Matt for some reason became very adamant about me breastfeeding and he wanted to do something to help me "practice". So he bought me a small monkey and insisted I try to nurse the monkey! It totally creeped me out, I now think I have a fear of monkeys because of this dream!

Funny Story:
Hendrix has decided he HATES underwire bras! If I'm wearing one and I'm slouching so the wire is pressing on my belly, he gets really upset and starts kicking it. He kicks it so hard it actually makes my whole bra start to bounce up and down! He's done this 3 or 4 times now and it makes me laugh so hard every time!

Baby Hair:
Since my pregnancy is officially high risk, I now get ultrasounds every week-so fun! During my ultrasound yesterday, the ultrasound tech exclaimed "Oh my Goodness! He's already got so much hair!" I couldn't really see what she was talking about but apparently Hendrix already has a full head of hair! I can't wait to meet this little guy and see who's already shown to have so much personality! (Watch out cousin Scotty, I think Hendrix is going to give you a run for your money! Kris, I'm open to any tips!)

What a difference 3 weeks makes!

Holy Baby Bump!!! I feel like my belly has grown so much in the last 3 weeks! I don't know where the size is coming from because I've actually lost 2 more pounds because of the gestational diabetes!
Watch me grow...
And I was just amazed by this, I've washed and hung up all of Hendrix clothes and all I've got to say is wow! I don't think I'll have to buy a single piece of clothing for him for at least the first year! Thanks to my awesome Mother-in-law, he's going to be the best dressed little boy in town!

Sadly, this is what I have succumbed to...

Our bed is really high. When I stand next to it, the top of it reaches my ribs. Up to this point I’d been doing this ridiculous sad leaping thing to get into bed. I’ve finally gotten to the point where fear of injury has forced me to swallow my self sufficient pride and I bought a step stool so I can haul my spherical self into bed after my million mid-night potty runs.
Sigh…

I have done it!

I have single handedly come up with a solution to all the country's national security issues and a resolution to the war! If all the terrorists and murders would just take more bubble baths, the world would be a much safer place. Who needs Chinese water torture, we just need to dunk them all into luxurious bubble baths.
I figure if a simple bubble bath is all it takes to brighten the outlook of an uncomfortable pregnant woman, it's bound to do something for the demeanor of an angry terrorist right?

My Husband the iPod Vigilante...

About two weeks ago Matt bought an iPod that he found in the local online classifieds from a young guy for $60. The guy told Matt that everything works great and that it’s should be ready to have music loaded on it. Matt gets it home and we can’t get iTunes to do anything with it, so Matt takes it to the Apple store to see what the deal is with it. Turns out the memory is fried and basically won’t ever work again and they’d be willing to give him a 10% off credit towards a new iPod.
At this point Matt is pretty annoyed and decides to try to call the guy and see if he can get his money back. Of course the guy never returns his calls or texts. After talking to some guys from work, Matt and his coworkers come up with this grand scheme…Turns out the guy had other things listed online to sell-their theory is all the things either don’t work or had been stolen. So Matt’s coworker text the guy about one of the items saying he wants to buy it. They set a time and place to meet up to make the sale. Matt meets the guy at the agreed location and confronts him about the faulty merchandise. Boy was the guy scared! Matt had no intentions of doing anything to the stupid kid, he just wanted either his money back or for the kid to at least man up and admit being wrong. So Matt ends up coming home with $30 and an iPod Trip which allows the iPod to be played through the car radio and he kept the faulty iPod so he’ll still be able to get a 10% off credit at the Apple store.
Ha! Hopefully at least the kid learned something from it and won’t try to cheat someone else out of money!

My boy is no longer breech!!!

Yippee! I went in for an ultrasound yesterday and he's turned! No more breech baby-at least for now. Bad news is his head is measuring more than 3 weeks ahead but his body measuring right on track. My little boy has a gargantuan cranium-now I kind of wish I was going to have a c-section!I got a few more ultrasound pictures.

He's still got my cheeks...

And where on earth did that nose come from! Hope it's just the angle and he's not going to come out with such a big honker! ;)

Hooray for random pregnancy symptoms!

Latest one...I'm a drooler! When I wake up at night to pee (usually at 11:00, 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00) I wake up in a huge puddle of drool on my pillow! I swear one of these nights I'm going to drown myself!
I no longer have any shame, pregnancy has taken that away from me. I'm putting it out there for all to read, I drool like a slobbering freak!

32 Weeks! Only 8 to go...Maybe less!

I'm 32 weeks along today! Hooray! That means at the most I've only got 8 weeks left. Since he's measuring big still and I've got gestational diabetes, I wouldn't be opposed to them inducing me a week or two early. I now go in for weekly appointments with my doctor and I'll get yet another ultrasound in the next week or so. Hendrix is hanging out breech at this point. My doctor says because of his size, if he doesn't turn within the next 3 weeks he probably never will. Lets keep our fingers crossed that I won't have a c-section (or maybe I'm not quite as opposed to the idea as I used to be since he is a biggun!)

During the same day last week I was told by one person that there's no way I'm going to make it all the way until the end of December because I'm so huge and then someone else told me there's no way I'm due so soon as December because I'm so tiny! Some People!

Gestational Diabetes with a sense of humor...

One of my good friends came up with the funniest term for Gestational Diabetes. She calls it the “Fetus ‘Betus” which stems from the Liberty Mutual diabetes commercials on TV with Wilford Brimley. The way he pronounces diabetes cracks us up “diabetus” with a drawn out southern drawl, thus the “Fetus ‘Betus”.
So from that I came up with a goofy little “Fetus ‘Betus” ditty. Now, I’m no author or lyricist but I do think I’m pretty damn funny! You’ve got to think of these “lyrics” to the beat of a bluesy rhythm.

I can’t eat cookies…
What can you do?

I can’t eat cake…
Well, what can you do?

I prick my fingers…
Oh, eeew!

And watch my carbs…
That’s not fun!

So I ain’t got to take
No insulin…

I got the blues…
The what?

The diabetes blues…
The who?

I’ve got the Fetus ‘Betus Blues…
For real?

Yes, the gestational diabetes blues!
Oh NO!

LOL, I crack myself up!

A diaper changing idea only a man could come up with...

Tonight Matt was talking to his uncle about changing diapers and between the two of them, they came up with the funniest idea ever. Matt wants to get a small belt sander and instead of sand paper, put baby wipes on it. This is his way of ensuring that Hendrix's hiney will be completely clean after a poopy diaper!
Best quote out of Matt during that conversation-"Hell yeah, wiping butts at 320 RPM's!"
LOL!

Baby Socks and BBQ Tongs...

So the other night I started washing Hendrix's clothes. Man, for someone who isn't even here yet, he sure does have a lot of clothes! And he's got tons of the most adorable teeny tiny little boy socks. Now, lets face it, I'm not a tall person and I've always had problems reaching the bottom of the washer to get clothes out. Well put a baby bump in the way and then stick several little itty-bitty socks to the bottom of the washer and try to get them out-doesn't work so well. But I discovered that BBQ tongs do the trick! LOL!

Why oh why can't my body work properly?

So I've got gestational diabetes. Yet another way my body can betray me by it's inability to function the way it's supposed to. I'm a bit frustrated and irritated right now. I feel better knowing that there's nothing I could have done to prevent this but I still feel responsible. I love candy and sweets and I just can't get it out of my head that if I'd just watched my sweet tooth a little closer I could have some how prevented this. I don't know many details yet, I just got the news this evening. I go in to my doctor tomorrow to get instructions on how to test my blood sugar and I'll go to Walgreens to pick up the finger pricker tester thingey. Then I'll be anticipating a phone call from the dietitian to schedule a consultation so I know what I'm allowed to eat. I've got a regular doctor's appointment next Thursday, you better believe she's going to be bombarded with my questions then.
There you have it.

29 Weeks and Matt's Kidney Stone

I'm now 29 weeks! I took the test for Gestational Diabetes on Thursday, bad news...I failed! I go in on Monday for the 3 hour test and hopefully that will come out with better results. I'm trying not to get myself too worked up about it, from what I've read it's not uncommon to fail the first test and then of those that fail that, only 15% go on to fail the second one and actually have gestational diabetes. I had my baby shower this weekend, it was so much fun! A lot of Matt's family came in to town and it was so great to see all of them. I'll post pictures of that in a few days. Here's my 29 week picture:

Also Matt has finally passed the beast of a kidney stone that has been killing him for the last 3 weeks. It's an angry looking huge stone! It's got 3 big prongs on it, kind of like a trident. I took it in to his doctor's office, they said it's going to take a month to analyze the stone so they know what it's made of! A MONTH? Really? Hopefully he won't pass another stone in the mean time. Here's a picture of the stone in comparison to a dime...

So, I snore!

Yep, that's right, I'm putting it out there, I officially snore like a mountain man! Last night at midnight I wake up and Matt is gone, his blankets and pillow are missing. I was too tired to go and investigate and fell back asleep. Come to find out I was snoring SO loudly that he went downstairs and slept on the couch for a few hours. I told him that he should have woken me up to tell me to knock it off. He's so sweet, he didn't want to wake me because I've had such a hard time sleeping lately!
Yet another thing pregnancy has done to me, will it's wonders ever cease?

Such a BIG boy!

I got to have another ultrasound today! YEAY!!!

Hendrix is still measuring big, in fact, he's measuring even farther ahead than he was a month ago. Now he's 2 weeks ahead and almost weighs 3 pounds. I've got an appointment with my doctor next Thursday, at that point she'll tell me if she's going to change my due date or not. If she does change it, I'll be due December 17. I also get tested for Gestational Diabetes next week, lets hope all is well with that!

I've come to terms with the fact that he's never going to give us a good profile ultrasound picture but I absolutely love this one, you can see his little face and his chubby little cheeks! I think it's safe to say that this little man definitely has my cheeks.

Here's a great picture of his little foot. He's got one foot under the other that's why the bottom part looks a little strange.

Dear Spikey Little Bastards,

To the kidney stones which have invaded my husband’s body-GET OUT! I know you like your cozy little home in there but you’re causing him great pain and costing us money! To the one particular beast who has taken 2 weeks to get out and still hasn’t left yet-this is your eviction notice! We are sick of sleepless nights due to excruciating pain that is so bad that 4 oxycodone won’t even touch. We are tired of going to the hospital and doctors for them to just basically say wait another week and see if it passes. We’re not thrilled with the possibility that the doctor will have to go in and retrieve you because you’re a stubborn little jerk! And more over, Matt is sick of peeing in a funnel every time in hopes that you’ve decided to relinquish your position in his kidney, just to be disappointed every time.

Now Kidney Stones, I can’t guarantee that you will be treated very well when you come out as you’re current living conditions but rest assured, as soon as one of you comes out, the remaining 7 of your friends will too be evicted in one way or another. So in other words, why delay the inevitable?

Sincerely,
The Wife of the man whom you’re inflicting great pain.

We didn't start the fire...

So we woke up at 2:00 this morning to see our neighbor's garage completely up in flames! Don't have any details yet. Luckily it wasn't our direct neighbor, it was across a little grassy area from our place. It destroyed their garage, probably parts of their house, their BIG truck(maybe a F250 extend cab) and parts of their attached neighbor's garage. It was NUTS! Thankfully from what I can tell everyone got out safe but there's lots of damage.
I can't figure out how to get the video to turn right side up but this video was shot from my bedroom window with my phone.

This is a picture I took(again from my bedroom window with my phone) of the garage after the fire fighters had put out all the flames.

And a little bit better view of the damage once it became light outside.

Beginning the 3rd Trimester and GINORMOUS!

I'm officially in the 3rd Trimester! 27 weeks, still measuring at least a week ahead. I'm feeling so much bigger than I look in this picture!
Matt told me last night "Wow Babe, your belly is getting BIG!" It's a good thing I'm not one of those overly sensitive girls huh?!

Also, I've been having fun with all the pictures I've taken over the past 10 weeks. Watch me grow!

Physical Therapy = HEAVEN!

Last week I mentioned to my OB that my back was killing me and she referred me to a physical therapist that specialized in maternity back pain. I think I’m in love with my therapist! Today was my first appointment and even though I’m admittedly quite sore, I already feel so much more loose and I can tell a few weeks of this is going to do so much good! And with all the loosening, hopefully it’ll help my hips spread out and this baby will just waltz right out!

Even better, the physical therapist gave me a maternity back/belly support belt and my insurance paid for it! HOORAY! I’ve died and gone to heaven!

Announcing the Long Awaited Arrival of Sir Stretch Mark!

There are always so many women who are horrified or disgusted by their stretch marks. I on the other hand feel like they’re a pregnancy rite of passage, kind of like a medal of honor. For most people they’re inevitable, so we’ve just got to get over it!

But, with that said, my beef is with the location of my new friends. My belly is still in pristine condition, aside from its size and linea negra(that funky dark pregnant belly line), it looks the same as it did 6 months ago. So where has Sir Stretch Mark decided to take up residence? On my hips and thighs! What the...? Last time I checked I wasn’t growing a baby in my thighs! I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised, I already had a few there from my teenage years when my ghetto booty came out of nowhere but still! LOL! I guess I’ll never understand the wonders of pregnancy!

Sorry if this was too much info, I really have wanted to document all my random thoughts through the pregnancy so there you have it!

Don't Piss off the Pregnant Chick!

Today I had a hormone induced pregnant rage moment!

I stopped by the gas station on my way home from work today. There was a woman in one of those boxy Scions behind me and she followed me into the gas station. There was one free pump left and I had to go around the back side of the pumps because of where my gas tank is. Scion chick sees this, sees the only available pump and speeds up so she can beat me to the pump. By the time I get there she'd just pulled in front of the pump. I kind of put my hands up and give her a "What the hell?" look. She shrugs her shoulders at me and gives me a "You snooze you lose" look. Then the rage kicks in, I flip her off, honk at her and obviously mouth the word "B!tch!"

Oops, I think I offended her! LOL!

Halloween!

I know it's a little early for this but I think I just figured out mine and Matt's costumes for Halloween this year! I'm going to be Juno and Matt's going to be Bleeker! He's going to grow out his hair so he's got a nice curly frow going by then and it'll be perfect! We just won't make him wear shorts that are quite as short-lets face it, NO one wants to see that!

The Nursery!!!!!

The nursery isn't completely finished yet, there's just a little stenciling to do but I just couldn't wait any longer to post all of the progress I've made!
Hendrix! "We" haven't officially decided on the name yet but I decided to jump the gun anyway and put it on the wall! Luckily Matt's happy with it!

Crib, guitar quilt, Hendrix and wall saying

"Hendrix" I covered wooden letters in the guitar fabric and painted brown and white stripes on them to mimic the stripes on the wall.

Matt is a HUGE Smashing Pumpkins fan and this is a quote from one of their songs. When the stenciling is done it'll say:
"Goodnight, to every little hour that you sleep tite
May it hold you through the winter of a long night
Goodnight, may your dreams be so happy and your
Head lite with the wishes of a sandman and a night light "

The quilt! The lime green corner that is turned over is what the blanket originally looked like-it was my blanket when I was a baby. I stitched the guitar fabric to it and tied the quilt with the ribbon that I used on mine and Matt's wedding invitations. The lime green doesn't match perfectly but I figured the sentiment and history was more important than matching!

I Work with a Bunch of Weirdos!

I've posted a couple times about the strange things that happen at work.

Here's the latest gem...So most of the people I work with are 50+ year old men. At my desk on my computer I've got the ultrasound picture that's at the top of my blog set as my wallpaper. This guy whom I've NEVER even talked to comes up to me and says "So you've brought in baby pictures" I was really confused and had no clue what he was talking about because I didn't realize he was looking at my computer. So I kind of said "Huh?" and he just kind of repeated himself. Finally I figured out what he was referring to and I said "Oh, yeah, it's one of my ultrasound pictures." And his response was "I liked it better back in the day when there was a little mystery." And walked away. No congratulations, nothing pleasant, no introduction of who the crap he is, just thought I needed to know it was better when there was some mystery!

UG! Where do these people come from?

Goodbye old friend!

Goodbye old friend! You've been with me my whole life but lately you've become so shallow and almost non existent. At this point I must say goodbye. But old friend this won't be permanent, I hope you will re-join our friendship in about 4 months. Dear Mr. Belly Button, you will be missed...

I et a bebe!

I can't believe how much I've grown in such a short time! The last time I took a bump picture was 2 weeks ago and I look so much bigger. When I started taking pictures of the baby bump, I thought it would be fun to continue to wear the exact same outfit for each picture so we have an accurate idea of the growth but after this last spurt I'm not sure this is going to work out. I have a feeling that by the time the next 3 1/2 months pass this shirt might do an Incredible Hulk seam split!
In this picture I'm 22 weeks 6 days but measuring either 1 or 3 weeks ahead, depending on what you're measuring. The baby is measuring a week ahead and the baby's swimming pool is measuring 3 weeks ahead.
Also, in the back ground you can see the initial progress of the nursery decor, got lots more painting to do, I'll blog about the nursery when it gets farther along.

First Stranger Comment

So I work with a ton on 50+ year old men-really really random work demographic. Anyway, yesterday I was standing outside an office waiting to talk to someone and this guy, who is probably in his early sixties, whom I'd never talked to before comes up right next to me (so close that his side was touching my side) and with his rancid breath says to me "Looks like we're having a baby! When are we due" Apparently I was a feeling a bit snotty because I looked at him and told him "I'm due in December...When are you due?"

Please pray for my friend!

I have a dear sweet friend who has struggled with infertility for the past year. After changing doctors several times and being on hiatus between doctors, she became pregnant with a miracle baby and discovered the pregnancy a few weeks ago. Since then she's had several complications but on Friday was able to go in to hear the heartbeat for the first time. Yesterday her blood work came back with bad news and she's most likely going to have a miscarriage. I'm absolutely heart broken for she and her husband. Please, friends and family, pray that they will be comforted and strengthened in this time of grief.

Give us your opinions!

Before we found out what we were having Matt and I were pretty much set on a boys name and a girls name. Now that we know that we're having a boy, Matt wants to make sure we've chosen the "right" name. So basically that means we're back to square one! The middle name is set because it's a family name. Kay is Matt's middle name, his dad's middle name and his grandfather's middle name. Because of this I feel it's appropriate that our son's middle name will also be Kay.

Hendrix Kay was the name we'd chosen before we found out it's a boy. Now our list has grown from Hendrix to:

Hendrix Kay
Brodrick Kay
Cohen Kay
Greyson Kay
Holden Kay
Maddox Kay

Randomness...

So I had my regular monthly doctor's appointment today. Surprise surprise I'm still measuring big-Bigger in fact! I'm now measuring 3 weeks ahead-I think I'm going to give birth to a 2 year old! Can he be potty trained too by the time he comes out? One good thing about it is I'll get to have yet another ultrasound! Hooray! I've got one scheduled next week just to get the measurements they weren't able to get on July 31 and then the next one will probably be some time late September.

I had a funny case of prego brain today. I packed my lunch this morning and left for work. On my way to work I got to thinking about what exactly it was that I'd packed in my lunch. I looked in my lunch sack, there was a small bag of chips, some grapes, an apple and a brownie. That's it. I'd completely forgotten to make and pack my sandwich! Oh when will I get my brain back?

I also had an interesting encounter with a coworker today. The demographics of the people I work with is really interesting. They're mostly 50+ year old men. So this one oldish man whom I've never met nor talked to walked by me-not really close, about 20 feet away or so-kind of hollered at me "You look good in that red thing". I was wearing this beautiful burgundy red shirt that my mother-in-law got for me for Christmas so I'm assuming that's the "red thing" he was referring to. It was an unusual compliment-TOTALLY creepy!

The pregnancy dreams continue. My belly button is really strange to me right now. It kind of makes this LARGE indented circle under my clothes and I hate it. I dreamt the other night that I took some cotton balls and scotch taped them into my belly button to flatten it out under my clothes. That morning I seriously considered trying it out but figured it'd probably just itch!

That's it for now, I'll keep you posted if any further randomness comes up!

To my dear sweet little boy...

Please oh please sweet baby please stop using my organs as trampolines! Though my bladder may get full frequently and infringe on your personal space, it's not necessary to bounce continually on it until I sprint to the bathroom. Let me tell you, little boy, my full bladder isn't fun for either of us and I'll empty it as soon as I'm able!

Also darling, thank you so much for not making me look hugely pregnant yet. Three different people told me how tiny I look today. I love the word tiny!

Your assistance with the bladder problem will be greatly appreciated.

Love you little boy and can't wait to meet you!

Ack! Where did THAT come from????

As you may recall, about two and a half weeks ago I posted my first pictures of the baby bump. At the time of those pictures I was 18 weeks 2 days along and had not yet been told that we're having a little boy nor did we know that he's going to be a BIG boy! This is what my 18 week baby bump looked like:

Well this week I've really felt like I've grown a lot! I felt pretty normal at the beginning of the week but by the end I've just felt huge! So out of curiosity today I thought I'd try on the same outfit and compare the difference. Today I'm 20 weeks 6 days but measuring a week ahead so almost 22 weeks. Now that I see the two pictures together, there isn't that much of a difference, I guess I just feel massive! I guess I can't complain, I could be bigger!

Also, on a side note, today's picture was taken in the newly re-arranged nursery and that's the BEAUTIFUL crib behind me.

More Nursery Craftyness

I'm not finished yet, I don't even have all the fabric but I'm just so excited I had to share! I'm making a "Taggie" blanket out of the guitar fabric! See...

Here's a closer look, the colors got a bit washed out but you get the idea

The back is going to be dark chocolate minky fabric like this

I've also looked into paint colors for the nursery and this is what I've come up with. The paint sample that looks like it's yellow is actually an awesome light lime green that matches the tan looking guitars which are also a light lime green. I'm thinking of painting the walls all that color. The blue and dark brown will be used as accent colors to do some kind of polka dots on the walls, see below...

I really love these polka dots, just don't know if I have patience to paint all of that!

This isn't a bad example of what I was thinking, minus the stripes

I've also decided to make a crib quilt, it's going to be a really simple pattern, I like this one the best...

The center will the the guitar fabric and the sides will be the chocolate brown minky fabric. I'm not 100% decided on the corner squares yet, I'm thinking maybe a dark brown with white polka dots but I'm not sure yet. I also haven't decided on what fabric I'll do for the back yet and I was thinking of doing a dark brown or maybe periwinkle blue satin-y fabric for the trim but I'm not sure if that'll be over kill!

So that's all the fun stuff I've been working on, I can't wait until it all starts to come together and I can post some actual pictures of the nursery!

I'm No Domestic Goddess-Surprising Huh?!

Today is Matt's 32nd Birthday and for some reason I chose today to try my hand at cake decorating! Boy, it's UGLY! Oh well, I had to blog about it because it's just that funny! See...

Well I may not be so talented in the kitchen but I am crafty! I've been trying to figure out how to decorate the nursery. I found this super cute guitar fabric on Ebay and have been working on deciding what I'm going to do with it. I don't think I have enough time, energy and guts to sew all of the crib bedding so I think I'll use the fabric as accents in the room. Today I made a cute photo board to put up on the nursery wall. Since I don't have any photos of the baby yet, I put ultrasound pictures on it.

and just a close up to show you the detail and how stinking cute it is! Did I mention that I'm oh so humble? :)

Also, funny story, apparently this little boy already has strong opinions about things. Yesterday I was driving in my car singing away to the radio and the baby kicked me the hardest he's kicked me yet. I was a bit insulted, he's only been on this planet for 19 weeks and he's already making commentaries on my singing? How rude! Hee Hee!

Drumroll Please...... We're Having a........

BOY!

We can hardly believe it! Matt was SO sure it was a girl that we were stunned when the ultrasound tech said BOY we just sat there and stared at each other! So Hendrix Kay Knell is on his way! And apparently he wants to be a big boy! He's already measuring more than a week ahead of schedule and they're talking about moving my due date up-hopefully now I'll be due BEFORE Christmas! Yeay!

As always Hendrix was being a stubborn little boy and didn't want to pose for pictures. He had his back to us-again, and wouldn't turn around. So this means, oh darn, I've got to go in for another ultrasound in a month so they can get all the anatomy pictures they need to get. Here are some of the pictures that they did get...
Here's the best profile she could get of him-this is the reason I have to go back in a month so she can get a clear image of his lip and check for a cleft pallet

I love this picture of his little hand waving at us!

And Yep, It's a BOY!

Debut of the Baby Bump, Kind of...

So I can't decided if I look pregnant yet or if I just look like I've packed on the pounds but I thought it would be a good idea to document it anyway! Here goes...

And just in case I look more pregnant from the other side...
