One of my good friends came up with the funniest term for Gestational Diabetes. She calls it the “Fetus ‘Betus” which stems from the Liberty Mutual diabetes commercials on TV with Wilford Brimley. The way he pronounces diabetes cracks us up “diabetus” with a drawn out southern drawl, thus the “Fetus ‘Betus”.
So from that I came up with a goofy little “Fetus ‘Betus” ditty. Now, I’m no author or lyricist but I do think I’m pretty damn funny! You’ve got to think of these “lyrics” to the beat of a bluesy rhythm.
I can’t eat cookies…
What can you do?
I can’t eat cake…
Well, what can you do?
I prick my fingers…
Oh, eeew!
And watch my carbs…
That’s not fun!
So I ain’t got to take
No insulin…
I got the blues…
The what?
The diabetes blues…
The who?
I’ve got the Fetus ‘Betus Blues…
For real?
Yes, the gestational diabetes blues!
Oh NO!
LOL, I crack myself up!

A diaper changing idea only a man could come up with...
Tonight Matt was talking to his uncle about changing diapers and between the two of them, they came up with the funniest idea ever. Matt wants to get a small belt sander and instead of sand paper, put baby wipes on it. This is his way of ensuring that Hendrix's hiney will be completely clean after a poopy diaper!Best quote out of Matt during that conversation-"Hell yeah, wiping butts at 320 RPM's!"
LOL!

Baby Socks and BBQ Tongs...
So the other night I started washing Hendrix's clothes. Man, for someone who isn't even here yet, he sure does have a lot of clothes! And he's got tons of the most adorable teeny tiny little boy socks. Now, lets face it, I'm not a tall person and I've always had problems reaching the bottom of the washer to get clothes out. Well put a baby bump in the way and then stick several little itty-bitty socks to the bottom of the washer and try to get them out-doesn't work so well. But I discovered that BBQ tongs do the trick! Why oh why can't my body work properly?
So I've got gestational diabetes. Yet another way my body can betray me by it's inability to function the way it's supposed to. I'm a bit frustrated and irritated right now. I feel better knowing that there's nothing I could have done to prevent this but I still feel responsible. I love candy and sweets and I just can't get it out of my head that if I'd just watched my sweet tooth a little closer I could have some how prevented this. I don't know many details yet, I just got the news this evening. I go in to my doctor tomorrow to get instructions on how to test my blood sugar and I'll go to Walgreens to pick up the finger pricker tester thingey. Then I'll be anticipating a phone call from the dietitian to schedule a consultation so I know what I'm allowed to eat. I've got a regular doctor's appointment next Thursday, you better believe she's going to be bombarded with my questions then.
There you have it.
There you have it.

29 Weeks and Matt's Kidney Stone
I'm now 29 weeks! I took the test for Gestational Diabetes on Thursday, bad news...I failed! I go in on Monday for the 3 hour test and hopefully that will come out with better results. I'm trying not to get myself too worked up about it, from what I've read it's not uncommon to fail the first test and then of those that fail that, only 15% go on to fail the second one and actually have gestational diabetes. I had my baby shower this weekend, it was so much fun! A lot of Matt's family came in to town and it was so great to see all of them. I'll post pictures of that in a few days. Here's my 29 week picture:

Also Matt has finally passed the beast of a kidney stone that has been killing him for the last 3 weeks. It's an angry looking huge stone! It's got 3 big prongs on it, kind of like a trident. I took it in to his doctor's office, they said it's going to take a month to analyze the stone so they know what it's made of! A MONTH? Really? Hopefully he won't pass another stone in the mean time. Here's a picture of the stone in comparison to a dime...

So, I snore!
Yep, that's right, I'm putting it out there, I officially snore like a mountain man! Last night at midnight I wake up and Matt is gone, his blankets and pillow are missing. I was too tired to go and investigate and fell back asleep. Come to find out I was snoring SO loudly that he went downstairs and slept on the couch for a few hours. I told him that he should have woken me up to tell me to knock it off. He's so sweet, he didn't want to wake me because I've had such a hard time sleeping lately!
Yet another thing pregnancy has done to me, will it's wonders ever cease?

Such a BIG boy!
I got to have another ultrasound today! YEAY!!!
Hendrix is still measuring big, in fact, he's measuring even farther ahead than he was a month ago. Now he's 2 weeks ahead and almost weighs 3 pounds. I've got an appointment with my doctor next Thursday, at that point she'll tell me if she's going to change my due date or not. If she does change it, I'll be due December 17. I also get tested for Gestational Diabetes next week, lets hope all is well with that!
I've come to terms with the fact that he's never going to give us a good profile ultrasound picture but I absolutely love this one, you can see his little face and his chubby little cheeks! I think it's safe to say that this little man definitely has my cheeks.
Here's a great picture of his little foot. He's got one foot under the other that's why the bottom part looks a little strange.
